September/October Update
Hello again! It’s that time again (slightly past) to give an update on our family. September and October have quickly went by. We have been adjusting from being a family of three to now four, Winnie is turning three months at the end of this week. I feel like we are starting to get our feet under us a bit, I forgot how those first few months postpartum feel. Josie had a birthday this past month, she’s now three years old, Gideon did too, but doesn’t like to acknowledge it. Gideon was asked to preach at a local church for their missions month a few weeks ago, it went well, we are always humbled to share.
Last we updated we were having car issues, I would like to report the car is fixed and I have been driving it with no issues. I am very thankful to have a husband who can fix just about anything he sets his mind to. Though I know it’s a headache for him. We also got Winnie’s name legally changed and birth certificate acquired (three copies because there was some hassle in receiving the first and we don’t want to do that again). I got her passport photo taken & plan to go apply for her passport this week. This is the last step in returning back to Ecuador. Our plan is to apply for her two year visa once in Ecuador. The big question we keep getting asked is “when are you going back?” And the short and long is “When we receive her passport.” So it could be 4-8 weeks, because that’s how the government rolls. We trust that God has his own time line for us. Pray with us for the passport process to go smoothly and for us as we prepare to return to Ecuador as a family of four.
Winnie is growing, she’s chunky, just the way we like our babies!
A brief update on what’s happening at Ninawachi since we’ve been gone. One staffing couple has left, they left to complete seminary and nursing school. Two couples are pregnant, one with their first and the other with their second. Please pray for both women, for health for mom & baby, one pregnancy is considered high risk. The staff and students for the month of November will be splitting into groups of 2-3 and going deeper into the jungle to live at communities and share the gospel there. Gideon did this when he was a student as well each year. Pray for the students and staff as they’re living in stranger’s homes, evangelizing, and being a light to the community they’re serving. Everyone will have a break during the month of December, as there’s no classes. Classes will resume in January after the holidays.
We’ve been trying to go on a one mile walk daily, sometimes we have to bundle up in our winter gear because it’s cold and rainy, but we won’t complain about cold weather!
