Hola from Ecuador!
Yep, you read that right, we are in Ecuador! What a whirlwind the last month has been for our family. A few weeks ago, three weeks ago now, we got a phone call asking if we could be in Ecuador June 23rd. At the time we were still waiting for Josie’s passport and we planned a family tied to visit Gideon’s brother in California with his parents. But we said yes anyways, praying for the details to be worked out. A few days later Josie’s passport came in the mail, an answer to prayer, and a few days after that we bought tickets to Ecuador.
We were in California the last week with Gideon’s family, it was such a nice time, the California cost is beautiful. We flew back to Pittsburgh from Cali Thursday evening, arriving 4:30 AM Friday morning. Ate breakfast with Gideon’s parents and my parents before going back to the airport to start our trip to Quito, Ecuador. It has been a long 72 hours of travel, we are very happy to be in our new “home” and to have a bed & shower, even if it is cold (our house doesn’t have a water heater, forced cold plunges for everyone, 😆)
We will be here for two months, coming home in August sometime. Starting on Monday the first short term mission team will be coming, and our work will begin. The landscape is beautiful, vast, and lush in the country. While driving the 6+ hours to the jungle, Gideon said that Ecuador has a law that if you cause an accident you go to jail for a few days. This is their way of keeping car accidents low, I guess. I find this law both hilarious and alarming. We want to thank those who have helped us get here, we feel your prayers, we have peace that only God can give. We are so happy to be here finally and can’t wait to share this journey with you.
Ferrel dogs run the streets everywhere, country and city. Josie is very excited to see so many doggies, but she’s quick to tell them to “go away” when they come too close.
